We are more than happy to help you learn more about the Suzuki Jimny and Suzuki Vitara BMW makes some of the best SUVs. These are spacious and practical family cars. Their interiors are luxurious, user-friendly and full of technology. They look good and are fuel efficient by SUV standards. They feel great to drive – even better than many standard hatchbacks and sedans. And there is a huge selection to choose from.

BMW makes seven SUV models – X1, X2, X3, X4, X5, X6 and X7 – the bigger the number, the bigger the car. There is also a big difference between odd and even numbers, which we will return to in a moment.

With so many models to choose from, all offering essentially the same features, it can be difficult to decide which BMW SUV is right for you. Here we answer some of the most important questions to help you decide which one is right for you.

Compare Hyundai Suvs

Actually, there are two different types of BMW SUVs – those with odd numbers in their names and those with even numbers in their names.

The odd models – X1, X3, X5 and X7 – have the long body of a practical, family-friendly SUV. The correspondingly numbered models – X2, X4 and X6 – have the chunky look and high stance you’d expect from an SUV, but with a low roofline and coupé-like styling that gives it a sporty look. They also feel sportier to drive.

These two lists overlap. The cars in each pair are similar and share many components. These pairs are X1 and X2, X3 and X4, and X5 and X6. The X7 will be joined by the X8 when this model launches in late 2021.

BMW’s smallest SUV is the X2. It is similar in size to other compact SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz GLA or Audi Q3. Despite its small size and coupé-like styling, the X2 has plenty of room in the back seats and a large boot. It works well as a family car, although small children may have difficulty seeing through the small rear windows.

If that’s your concern, the X1 might be the better choice. Despite having a lower number in its name, the regular X1 SUV is a few centimeters longer and taller. The boot is practically large, and you and your passengers, regardless of age, will appreciate the spacious interior, which is lighter and brighter than the X2.

The largest BMW SUV is the X7. It is a very large car, similar in size to the Range Rover or Audi Q7. The X7 is truly spacious and functional, and it’s also deeply luxurious.

The X5 is slightly smaller, but still a big car, on par with a Lexus RX or Mercedes-Benz GLE. Bridging the X5 and X1 is the X3, a mid-size SUV that competes with the Jaguar F-Pace and Alfa Romeo Stelvio.

The X6 is the same size as the X5 and the X4 is the same size as the X3, but the X6 and X4 have shorter, lower bodies with sportier styling.

Hyundai Tucson Vs Kia Sportage: Which Suv Is Right For You?

Two BMW SUVs are available with seven seats in three rows – X5 and X7. On the X5, an extra pair of folding seats is available from the boot floor as an extra when the car is new. Not many customers go for it, and those third-row seats actually have enough room for kids.

The X7, on the other hand, has generous, comfortable room for adults in its third row. It is also luxurious in the back with armrests, lockers and heated seats. You can also fine-tune the space to your passengers’ needs, because the second row of seats slide back and forth.

There are also other six-seat X7 models with comfortable ‘Captain’ seats in the second row instead of a three-seat ‘bench’.

BMW SUVs come in a wide range of sizes, so there should be one big enough for your dog(s) to walk around and lay down, no matter what size/size they are. However, the view out of the sloping rear window of the X2, X4 and X6 is not great, especially for small dogs.

Which Mercedes Benz Suv Is The Best For Me?

Of all the models, the X5 and X7 are the most dog-friendly. They have large boots and two boot pieces where the lower half folds up to create a platform that makes it easy for your dog to get in and out. Some models also have suspension that lowers at the touch of a button so your dog can handle high jumps.

The X1, X2, X3 and X5 are available with petrol plug-in hybrid (PHEV) power and offer a long useful zero-emission range. According to official figures, the X1 25e and X2 25e can drive up to 35 kilometers on battery power; X3 30e to 29 miles; and the latest X5 45e to 60 miles. The old X5 40e could do about 25 miles.

Two new electric models will go on sale at the end of 2021 – iX3 and iX. The iX3 is an electric version of the mid-size X3 with an official range of up to 285 miles on a fully charged battery. The iX has been designed from the ground up as an electric car. It is the same size as the X5 and has a very high-tech look inside and out. The top-of-the-range iX has an official maximum range of 380 kilometers.

Not surprisingly, the X7 has the largest boot of any BMW SUV with a whopping 750 liters of space for five seats. Even with seven seats in place, there is still plenty of room to shop at a supermarket. Fold all the rear seats and you have 2,125 liters of space – enough for a full-height fridge/freezer. However, other SUVs the size of the X7 have a much larger boot, such as the Land Rover Discovery. That’s the case with all BMW SUVs – they have a large usable trunk, not the biggest you’ll find in an SUV of their size.

Which Hyundai Suv Is Right For Me?

BMW makes its SUVs feel as good as possible when driving on the road, but that comes at the expense of off-road prowess. The X3, X5 and X7 can traverse more challenging terrain than most people will attempt to tackle. But ultimately they can’t work like Land Rover. Some models are more capable off-road than a normal car, but they don’t feel comfortable in that area.

You can recognize any kind of four-wheel drive BMW – not just an SUV – by an ‘xDRIVE’ badge on the tailgate (xDRIVE is just the name BMW gives its four-wheel drive). Two-wheel drive models are labeled ‘sDRIVE’
