Social Work Masters Degree Programs
Day, evening, weekend, and online courses are offered to MSW students to accommodate their schedule. Classes are offered at the Detroit campus and our Macomb and Schoolcraft locations. MSW students choose between two levels: Innovation in Community, Policy and Leadership (ICPL) or Resident Practice (IP) and seven specialized electives to develop skills and knowledge within a specific practice area or client population. Wayne State BSW students seeking an MSW degree can also choose to save time and money through AGRADE and Advanced Law. AGRADE and Senior Rule participants complete courses applicable to both degrees at a lower undergraduate tuition rate, giving them the opportunity to enter the job market quickly and for less money.

Fieldwork in the MSW foundation year requires students to learn the fundamentals of social work, which prepares them for their senior year in the program, where students specialize in a chosen area of interest. Elementary year students complete 16 hours of field work per week, totaling 450 hours. Advanced year students (Traditional or Advanced) may choose 24 hours of fieldwork each week (676 total) instead of the traditional 16 (450 total).
