Our faculty and staff are proud to help veterans, military members, dependents and spouses further their education. Veterans Administration (VA) and active duty service members and their spouses may be eligible for tuition assistance. We are here to support you and help you navigate the process.

Each semester you enroll and wish to use your benefits, you must request a Certificate of Enrollment (send your class schedule to the VA certifying officer) at least two weeks before the start of the semester. You will be notified by VA via email once your registration has been confirmed.

Students using Chapter 31 (Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment) or Chapter 33 (Post-9/11 GI Bill®) benefits are permitted to attend or participate in a course beginning on the date the student provided at Southern Crescent Technical College. (SCTC) Certificate of Inclusion for eligibility for educational assistance under Chapter 31 or 33. SCTC will not impose any penalties, including assessment of late fees or denial of access to classes, libraries or other college facilities. SCTC shall not require any student using Chapter 31 or 33 to borrow additional funds because the student is unable to meet his financial obligations to SCTC due to deferred payment funds from the Department of Veterans Affairs under Chapter 31 or 33.

Veteran Education Assistance Program

Students must submit their Certificate of Eligibility for Academic Support within the first day of the course of study indicating that they wish to use their academic benefits and provide a half copy of their records to the Veterans Center. which is located in the mobile phone. Unit 6A on the Griffin Campus or call 770-229-3095. A student is protected in his courses when the Veterans Administration processes payment to SCTC. This benefit is provided to the student while he or she is receiving benefits under Chapter 31 or 33. It is the responsibility of the students to contact the school certification officer of the college if their schedule needs to be changed or modified. Failure to do so may result in VA overfunding. This part 38 U.S.C. Allows education benefits to dependents and survivors of veterans who are severely disabled as a result of their service, (100% disabled), or who have died of a service-related cause, who were prisoners of war or missing in action. Any person who enlists, re-enlists, or extends for at least six years in the Selective Reserve, plus any other active duty after June 30, 1985, and has completed 180 days of service in the Selective Reserve through high school or GED, IADT, have done and satisfactorily participate in the required training in the Selective Reserve. ArmyIgnitED — Active duty Soldiers and eligible Army Reserve and Army National Guard students can request a TA online using ArmyIgnitED. Don’t forget that you must submit an annual TA Statement of Understanding (SOU) to your Army Education Advisor with the signature of your commanding officer.

NETPDTC-1560/3 — Navy and Marine personnel must complete Form NETPDTC-1560 and submit it to their Education Office prior to the start of the term. This TA application form can be submitted by email, fax or in person.

It is worth noting that the educational institution will get full payment only if the experienced person gets a job in the relevant field within 180 days of completing the program. VR&E Services assists veterans with job training, employment accommodations, resume writing and development, and job search coaching. Services are also extended to help veterans and service members start their own businesses or receive independent living services if needed.
