Psychology Major Miami University
The University of Miami (UM-) Center for Psychological Services provides quality, cutting-edge psychological services guided by the latest research. Recognized as one of the best in the country, we are based in the Department of Psychology at the University of Miami.
Department Of Psychology
UM- tests and psychotherapy sessions are doctoral students in the clinical psychology program who are closely supervised by UM professors and licensed psychologists who are experts in their field. We offer a confidential personalized service and resources of a leading university. Our services are culturally sensitive and we appreciate and respect individual diversity.
The Children’s Emotional Disorders Program (PEP-C) was developed with the support of the Jane Lawton Trust to identify and treat children and adolescents in Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) who may be at risk for developing emotional problems. This program was created by the Department of Psychology and the Center for Psychological Services () as part of the community outreach mission and is a continuation and expansion of current services to children and families in our community. The Psychology Clinic is an educational clinic for doctoral students in the “Clinical Psychology” program. Students perform psychotherapy and psychological evaluation under the supervision of licensed clinical psychologists.
Psychological services are provided to individuals and families connected to the University of Miami, as well as those in the surrounding community. Acceptance of psychological services depends on whether the clinic can provide appropriate treatment and whether the case is appropriate for study or research. This decision is made by a licensed clinical psychologist, who acts as supervisor, and the clinical director. Appropriate referrals are provided to other mental health facilities or community resources for those seeking help in Clinical Psychology, who have problems that do not meet their current educational or research needs, or who need more than the clinic’s limited hours. The services offered at the clinic vary from semester to semester.
Therapy may be available. Most often, psychotherapy is performed with adults and older adolescents. If you are seeking psychotherapy for a child, please call the clinic to see if these services are currently available.
Miami University College Of Arts And Science
Psychological assessments may be available. Please call the clinic if you would like to request an evaluation for yourself or your child.
* If you are a student at the University of Miami, you are eligible to receive similar services from Student Counseling Services. Students and residents of the surrounding community can also contact the Community and Crisis Counseling Center.
Registration for individual psychotherapy sessions is available free of charge. You will be charged $ 25 for each subsequent session. There is a flat fee of $ 200 per assessment (which may involve multiple appointments).
Students in the clinical psychology doctoral program occasionally conduct research projects across the clinic. Participation in the study is not a requirement for receiving other services offered at the clinic.
