This course builds on the programming skills developed in Programming Fundamentals I Mobile Domain and covers more advanced object-oriented programming concepts, logical structures, and algorithms. The topics of modeling visual information systems, graphical user interfaces and software testing will also be considered. Building on the fundamentals of programming, students will study important topics related to object-oriented design. Special attention is paid to topics such as class design, unified modeling language, inheritance, composition, logical construction, implementation, design strategies, and testing. Upon completion, students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the software development life cycle, including comprehensive analysis and design of real-world software problems. Students will plan and execute various mobile design strategies with usability at the forefront of design. Students will apply best practices for collecting and analyzing usability testing data to make changes that result in an effective user interface. Study topics in elementary mathematics, with an emphasis on functions and graphs. Topics include the algebra of functions and the study of inverse functions. Rational, exponential, logarithmic and piecewise functions are studied. Students who have credit for NMTH-275 may not earn credit for NMTH-260 or NMTH-272. (Prerequisite: This course is restricted to NTID Support students who have completed NMTH-212 or equivalent with a grade of C or better or a math grade of 40 or higher.) Lecture 4 (Fall, Spring).

The Wing Seminar is a three-credit course limited to 19 students per section. The course is designed to develop the skills of analytical and rhetorical reading, as well as critical and cyclical thinking in first-year students. Students will read, understand, and interpret a variety of nonfiction texts representing different cultural perspectives and/or disciplines. These textbooks are designed to challenge students’ intelligence and inspire their wings in a variety of contexts and purposes. Through a sequence of inquiry-based assignments, students will develop academic inquiry and literacy practices that will be reinforced throughout their academic careers. Particular attention will be paid to the Wing process, including an emphasis on faculty and student meetings, self-assessment, class discussions, peer review, formal and informal Wing, research and revision.
