Good luck with your application and feel free to contact us if you have any questions! Studying abroad is one of those life-changing experiences and an unparalleled opportunity. During his studies, he gets the opportunity to live in a new country with a new culture, meet people from different parts of the world, and sometimes even learn a new language. Studying abroad has many advantages. It offers short courses, diplomas, bachelor’s, master’s, Ph.D. etc. enabling them to improve their academic skills at various levels. Similarly, education can be pursued in many destinations. However, many people don’t know what to do before they get that official admission and scholarship.
A challenge many students face is knowing where to begin the application process. In addition, there is an overload of information online that confuses many people to distinguish authenticity from fraud. Some students have lost money to online fraudsters through payment agencies to apply for courses abroad. I would like to admit that applying for admissions and scholarships is not as difficult as people think, but it requires careful preparation and patience. There are many opportunities and scholarships available to students who wish to take advantage and they are free and no application fee is required. So, I will explain step by step how to take advantage of these possibilities. This post will help answer some frequently asked questions and provide some very simple advice on how to apply for your dream course abroad. If you don’t get an answer to your question or have a question, feel free to email me and I’ll give you as detailed an answer as possible! Here are 5 simple tips on how to apply for study abroad:
It seems like a very simple topic to start with, but most people who want to study abroad do not have a concrete idea about the course/program. So, to begin with, know what field you want to venture into in the bachelors, masters or postgraduate studies you are applying for. Research synonyms for that program. Because different countries have different names for the same program. Personally, I want to pursue any course in subjects like ‘Urban Studies’, ‘Urban Planning’, ‘Urban Development’, ‘Urban Environment’, ‘Built Environment’, ‘Urban Planning’ etc. because I want to continue the course related to my degree. Regions are good for me. Do your research, find the common names of the programs you are interested in at the level you are applying for. This leads to my next tip.
Choosing a study location is crucial because each person has their own preferences. Personally, in order to pursue my master’s degree, I am looking for any admission in countries in Europe or Canada because these are my priority areas. There are many other destinations to choose from based on your country of origin and study interests. Some prefer to study in Europe, others in the USA or Australia. Choosing your destination dictates the application dates for provisional admission and scholarships, as different regions/countries have different academic calendars and admission seasons. It also helps in timely preparation e.g. Start by registering for English tests or getting to know the culture of the destination country if required by the course you are applying for. In some countries where English is not the native language or where other languages are used for teaching, universities arrange for students to register several months in advance to learn the languages before the course begins. Thus, knowing the country to be studied helps in monitoring these activities.
How To Start Your Study Abroad Journey
Once you have a country/region of study and interests, search for universities that offer that course. For example, in my case I’m looking for something similar
. This simple search will give you many results. Browse the results. If you like one of the available programs, check the requirements. It is important to note that each university has specific requirements to consider for admission. If you do not meet all the requirements of a particular course, there is no need to apply as you will be disqualified after submission. The first things to check are the application deadline, course start date, language of instruction, course duration, whether full-time or part-time, on-campus or online. Note: Most of the opportunities that appear in your search results do not come from the official university website. So a good practice is that once you have identified an opportunity you are interested in, go to the official website of the proposed university to verify and apply from there.
Also, if it’s a master’s, check if it’s a master’s or research master’s. For the difference between the two, check here and here to consider which one to follow. Other things to check are the documents required for the application, e.g. An updated CV, cover letter, referees, letter from employer, your previous education certificates and transcripts. Does it require an English test? As for me, during the application process I avoided any course that required an English test because English is the main language of instruction in my country and I did not want to participate in paid English tests. However, if you don’t mind paying and taking exams to fulfill the requirements of your dream course abroad, then go for it. The options are limitless. Most institutions in Europe exclude non-francophone African countries from the English test, but this is important.
The application phase is crucial
