The Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® Credit Card earns 1.5x on everyday business spend and 3x on qualifying purchases at a Bank of America Travel Center. If you’re eligible for the Preferred Rewards for Business program, this card offers solid returns across all categories. But non-bank customers will find more value in other card options. Business Advantage Travel Rewards Credit Card

The Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® Credit Card is one of two Bank of America business cards that earn rewards (not counting co-branded cards). Earn a solid 1.5x on all purchases, but you can earn even more on eligible travel purchases.

Best Credit Cards For Startups 2022: Top 11 Business Cards

Existing Bank of America customers can potentially get a lot out of this card, but make sure it’s the right business card option for you. There are other low-cost business cards that offer higher returns and more flexible redemption options.

If you have business Bank of America accounts and want a card with an annual fee for business travel expenses, the Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® Credit Card is a viable option for you. This is best suited for those who qualify for the Preferred Rewards program (more on that later) and usually book travel through a third-party portal. The rewards structure is decent even if you don’t have a banking relationship with Bank of America, but there are cards that offer a higher flat rate rewards structure.

For a card with no annual fee, get a decent sign-up bonus with the Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® Credit Card. You’ll earn 30,000 points after spending $3,000 on purchases within the first 90 days of opening your account. This comes at a price of $300. It’s certainly not the highest sign-up bonus currently available, but $3,000 for just $300 isn’t bad.

There aren’t many perks and benefits with this card, but that’s not surprising, since it doesn’t charge an annual fee. Get business tools like QuickBooks integration to make tracking expenses easy. You’ll also get travel protections, including travel accident insurance, lost baggage reimbursement, trip cancellation coverage, and travel delay reimbursement.

With this card, you’ll earn 1.5x the flat rate on all purchases, plus 3x when you book travel through a Bank of America Travel Center.

The Bank of America Travel Center is powered by Expedia, so if you already book business travel through the same third-party site, it’s possible to switch to Bank of America’s portal 3 times. Please note that you may not receive Elite Hotel Credits or have your Elite Hotel status recognized when you go through a third-party portal.

Business Advantage Travel Rewards Credit Card

Earning 1.5x daily purchases makes it a decent business card for non-bonus spending, but the Preferred Rewards for Business program gives this card the ability to offer substantial rewards for all purchases.

Boa Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards Review

The Preferred Rewards for Business is similar to the personal version of the program. Those with a three-month average balance of at least $20,000 in qualifying Bank of America corporate deposit accounts and/or Merrill corporate investment accounts are eligible for the program. There are three tiers, each with different banking and credit card benefits. For cardholders, you’ll earn an increase in earnings on all base points earned with the card. Here’s a look at the three tiers and potential earnings with the Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World MasterCard® Credit Card:

Remember that with this card you only get a boost on the base points earned, which means you only get a 1.5x boost for every purchase. Earn 3x on purchases on the Bank of America travel portal, you’ll earn a 1.5x bonus and then a 1.5x bonus after the fact. You’re still getting a good return, but it’s not as profitable as you might assume based on how the Personal Preferred Rewards program works.

You can redeem your points as statement credits for qualifying travel purchases, gift cards, or cash back, but you’ll get the most out of your points when you redeem them as statement credits for travel. While most Bank of America cards earn fixed value points, the Business Travel Rewards Card is a little different.

Since you only receive 1 cent per point, your travel rewards are best used as credit for travel purchases that aren’t typically booked with points, such as cruises, transit, and tourist attractions. (Photo via Getty Images.)

Bank Of America Business Advantage Travel Card Review

Your points earned as travel credits are worth 1 flat cent each, but when you redeem them for cash back your points are worth just 0.6 cents each (meaning 2,500 points equals just $15) . Gift card redemption rates vary. This limits your discount options and puts this card at a disadvantage compared to business cards that offer more flexibility.

I think there are better options out there if you’re not a Preferred Rewards business member. Even the low annual fee doesn’t make the card worth it in my view if you only earn 1.5x the flat rate on most purchases and 3x on eligible travel portal spend. If you want to earn rewards on the go with a flat rate card for everyday business expenses, you should consider Capital One Spark Miles for Business.

Capital One Spark miles earn twice as much on all purchases and you earn miles for travel credits or by transferring miles to partners.

Business Advantage Travel Rewards Credit Card

Spark Miles also offers 50,000 bonus miles after spending $4,500 in purchases within the first three months of opening an account. The card’s annual fee is waived the first year ($95 thereafter), making it a great choice for business owners looking for an everyday grocery card to earn travel rewards.

If you’re adamant that you don’t have an annual fee, the Chase Inc. Business Unlimited Credit Card is another option. You’ll earn 1.5% on every purchase, and these rewards are worth 1 flat cent each, regardless of how you earn your rewards. For merchants who don’t want to use their rewards only for travel, this is a great alternative.

Additionally, if you have a Chase Ultimate Rewards card such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred card or Ink Business Preferred credit card, you can transfer your rewards to take advantage of redemption bonuses and Chase transfer partners. (Although it’s important to note that you currently need to be logged into an existing Chase account before applying for any corporate credit card issued by Chase.)

If you qualify for the Business Preferred Rewards program, this card can be a great way to earn travel rewards. The Preferred Rewards program offers banking and credit card benefits that make this card right for members. However, non-members must seek rewards elsewhere. You can find cards that earn more on both travel rewards and non-bonus spending.
