Marriott has a suite of co-branded credit cards issued by both American Express and Chase. While the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® credit card has a Marriott annual fee of $95, so does the Marriott Bonvoy Bold® credit card with no annual fee. I wanted to take a closer look at the card in this post, especially since it offers a limited welcome bonus.

Many people try to get any annual fee card, although you often miss out on the significant benefits of choosing one of these cards over the premium card. This is why the Marriott Bonvoy Bold Card is so interesting, as it is quite rare to see an annual premium hotel card with valuable benefits.

Chase And Marriott International Announce New Name, Look And Feel For Their Credit Cards Under The New Marriott Bonvoy™ Travel Program

Is the card right for you, and who gets it on one of Marriott’s premium credit cards? Let’s take a closer look at what you need to know.

The Marriott Bonvoy Bold card offers a limited welcome bonus of 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points after spending $2,000 in the first three months. I estimate Bonvoy points at ~0.7 cents each, so for me this is worth ~$420. While nothing to worry about, it’s a nice bonus with a reasonable spending requirement on the card with no annual fees.

Because there are several American Express and Chase Marriott cards, there are some rather complicated eligibility restrictions for this card.

This is all in addition to Chase’s 5/24 rule, in which you generally won’t get a card approved if you’ve opened five or more new card accounts in the last 24 months.

Chase Launches Marriott Rewards Premier Visa Signature Business Credit Card For Small Business Owners On The Go

The Marriott Bonvoy Bold card has no annual fee. You can’t beat not paying the annual fee on the card! You can even add additional card memberships at no extra cost.

The Marriott Bonvoy Bold card has several bonus categories, although it’s not a card I would use for my day-to-day spending.

The Marriott Bonvoy Bold card offers 3 Bonvoy points when spending at Marriott family hotels globally. For many, this will be a well-deserved reward.

Chase Marriott Rewards Visa

Since I estimate each Bonvoy point to be only ~0.7 cents, this equates to a ~2.1% return on hotel spending. Note that other co-branded Marriott cards offer 6x points, so while this is better than nothing, it’s not the best credit card to spend at Marriott properties.

Chase Marriott Card Deal: 10x Points At Restaurants And Gas Stations

The Marriott Bonvoy Bold card offers double points on all travel purchases. This includes everything from trains to car rental taxis to flights. While it’s nice that this card offers bonus points for this, this is still only a ~1.4 % return, in my valuation.

The Marriott Bonvoy Bold card offers 1x points on all other eligible purchases. This is not very good, as it equates to a ~0.7 % return on spend, in my valuation. Other cards are much better for daily spending and offer returns of 2% or more.

While the benefits of the Marriott Bonvoy Bold Card aren’t as good as on the premium versions of the card, there are some perks that go with it when you consider it a no-annuity card. Let’s take a look at the benefits.

With only the Marriott Bonvoy Bold card, you will receive Silver Elite status in the Marriott Bonvoy program. Now, don’t get too excited, because this doesn’t exactly come with too many benefits. Silver Elite status typically requires 10 elite nights and comes with the following perks:

Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Visa

Personally, my favorite status perk for the Bonvoy Bold Card is that you get 15 elite nights for annual status just for the card. Note that some co-branded Marriott credit cards offer this, and you can only get the benefit on one individual card per year. In other words, if you have three Marriott Personal Cards, you won’t get 45 Elite Nights.

However, you can earn 15 elite nights from the personal pass and 15 elite nights from the Marriott Bonway Business™ American Express® Card (review), out of a total of 30 elite nights.

This really makes it easier to earn Bonvoy Platinum status, which is where the status really comes into play. Platinum status requires 50 nights, so if you have this pass you only need to earn 35 more elite nights, and if you also have a business card you only need 20 more elite nights.

Platinum status entitles you to guaranteed late check-out, suite upgrades according to availability at most hotels, complimentary breakfast at multiple brands, and more.

Chase Marriott Bonvoy Bold Card Review (2022)

One of the great features of the Chase card is access to Chase coupons, which help save money on purchases with all types of retailers. The program can save you a significant amount of money, so it’s great to have access to it with a free annual card.

When I looked at it, the Marriott Bonvoy Bold card had a great welcome bonus for an annual no-charge card, and it’s also great that the annual zero-fee card offers 15 nights of annual incentives with Marriott.

If you’re someone who would benefit from quickly achieving elite status but don’t want to pay the annual fee at all, I think this card is well worth it.

But if not, I think it’s better to get one of Marriott’s credit cards with an annual fee instead I think the benefits are more than justification for the fees. Moreover, this is not a good card for everyday spending.

Last Chance: Amex Spg & Marriott Premier Cards

If you’re going to buy a Marriott card from Chase, I’d rather get the Marriott Bonvoy Infinite Card instead. The card has a $95 annual fee, but for this you get more benefits. At the most basic level, the card offers:

The other thing is that you can always get the Unlimited Card now, and if you don’t like it, you can downgrade to the no-annual fee card after a year. You can learn more about the Boundless Bonvoy Card here and read the Boundless & Bold Card comparison here.

In some cases, this will be the best way for you to earn Marriott points through credit card spending, as you can earn 3 points (or even more) in selected categories.

Chase Marriott Rewards Visa

I wouldn’t recommend transferring Chase points to Marriott, though. Like I said, I estimate Marriott points at ~0.7 cents per point, while you can instead transfer points at a similar rate to programs like World of Hyatt, where I estimate the number of points. the score is ~1.5 cents per show.

Renespoints Marriott Rewards Visa Card

While there are many ways to earn Marriott points with a credit card, there aren’t many ways to do so with efficient or competitive rates.

The Marriott Bonvoy Bold card is the only option for those looking for a free annual Marriott credit card, and it’s even a big bonus right now. The fact that the card offers 15 premium nights for annual status is very generous.

Other than that, though, I think it’s worth it to get one of Marriott’s premium credit cards. I highly recommend getting the Marriott Bonvoy Unlimited Card. It has a much better welcome bonus than the Bold Card, and it offers a free night every year more than justification for the annual fee. You can always try the card, and if you don’t like it, you can downgrade it after a year. Brand credit card company in the US.
