About a week after their visit, we had the opportunity to go to our local old navy and get training in practical, warehouses. Our young people went through a brief orientation before engaging with the experienced staff on the ground to learn about the different aspects of working in a retail environment. They learned how to execute a cash register, how to store inventory, how to work in storage rooms, how to mark clearance items, and even to wear a mannequin!
A few hours after going to work, our young man sat down for a mock interview. The old Navy staff were excellent and helped our trainees figure out how to put their limited service experience in a positive light. Our youth are moving away from the empowerment experience and ready to enter the workforce.
